When celebrating country music at the CMA Awards, Cody Johnson edged out Christ Stapleton, Jelly Roll, Kacey Musgraves, and even Luke Combs to win Album of the Year for Leather. The country singer took home the award after Lainey Wilson won it in 2023 for Bell Bottom Country. While thrilled about his success within country music, over the weekend, Johnson performed two sold-out shows at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. And wanting to make the concerts memorable, Johnson decided to welcome Combs to the stage for a special performance.

Back in 2019, Combs released the album What You See Is What You Get, which featured the song “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” Throughout the song, Combs learned that there are many things in life that can break a person’s heart, but beer is always a safe bet. Fans loved the song when it was released as it peaked at No. 1 on Billboard Country Airplay.
Bringing Combs out on stage, Johnson and the singer did more than produce a powerful performance of the hit song. The two also shared a beer together as thousands of fans screamed in the background. Online, fans couldn’t get enough of Johnson and Combs, writing, “My mom sent me this video because I couldn’t go. She knew I loved Luke Combs. Bless her.” Another person added, “It was electric! The crowd was so loud.”
Outside of his performance with Combs, Johnson offered fans a setlist that included songs like “Human”, “Me and My Kind”, and “That’s Texas.” Just a taste of what the singer offered, the night also welcomed another guest, Carrie Underwood, to the stage.

Cody Johnson Shared The Stage With More Than Just Luke Combs
Knowing how to entertain a crowd, Johnson made sure his time in Nashville was memorable. Sharing a post on Instagram that showed the two singers on stage, Underwood wrote, “Fun with friends! ‘Twas a pleasure joining @codyjohnson on stage Saturday night at @bridgestonearenaofficial ! He’s the real deal, folks! Such a great show and what a LOUD crowd!”
Leaving his mark on Nashville, Johnson was sure to take a moment and soak it all in, telling the crowd, “I want you to know that there was a time when I thought this dream wouldn’t happen … that’s why I’m leaving it all here on the stage.”
