On Sunday, December 15, Taylor Sheridan and the rest of the Yellowstone cast closed out their epic neo-Western. The show has run for five seasons first premiering in June of 2018, and has entertained audiences ever since. One of the most small yet largely entertaining factors of the show has been the numerous country musician cameos. Particularly, with the one and only, Lainey Wilson.
Lainey Wilson Takes on The Dutton Ranch
Other than the drama with Kevin Costner and the general grievances with the show’s plot, the other most talked about element of season five has been Lainey Wilson’s cameo. Wilson first appeared on the show in part one of the season five premiere back in 2022. Her character, Abby, fills the same boots Wilson does in real life as she is an electrifying country musician in the show.
Furthermore, Abby is also the love interest of Ian Bohen’s character, Ryan. Matter of fact, Wilson’s return to the show mainly revolves around her romance with Ryan as the most recent episode teases a potential life between the two. However, that speculation is fairy dust at the moment given that season six has yet to be confirmed.
Romance and potential series aside, Wilson’s return to the show marked an incredibly full-circle moment for fans. Following her appearance in 2022, Wilson’s return to Yellowstone was looking incredibly unlikely. Mainly because there seemingly was just not a robust place for her in the storyline. But, leave it to Taylor Sheridan to give the world what they want. And he did just that as Lainey Wilson took the stage in the episode and sang her hit song from her album, Whirlwind, “Hang Tight Honey.”
Even though Yellowstone might have come to an end last night, there are still plenty of opportunities to get your fix on Sheridan’s Dutton Ranch. The second season of 1923 starring Harrison Ford has been confirmed, and an untitled spin-off series of Beth and Rip has also been announced for release in the coming years.
