Given their vocal political endorsements, the relationship between Kid Rock and Stevie Nicks seems quite surprising. However, it shouldn’t be, as these two musicians are able to set their beliefs aside for the sake of friendship. That being so, Stevie Nicks and Kid Rock have been friends for quite a while, and they have aired their friendship publicly on several different occasions.

One of the more notable public displays of friendly affection is when Stevie Nicks dedicated a performance of “Landslide” to Kid Rock in 2014. Nicks’ performance was a long time in the making, as the two have been friends since roughly 2001. Matter of fact, in an interview with Q Magazine, Nicks stated, “He calls me his little rock n roll soul mom, because I’m much older, but we relate to each other.”
Prior to that interview, Nicks also divulged, “I have known Kid since 2001 – and we have had a very special friendship ever since,” per the Macomb Daily. “We relate on many levels” and “Behind [Kid Rock’s] crazy flamboyance lies the most amazing person. We have always joked that if I had had a child it would have been him,” Nicks added. Per Nicks’ comments, it seems a tribute to Kid Rock was inevitable.
Stevie Nicks Honors Friend & Rock ‘n’ Roll Son Kid Rock
In October, 2014 Nicks and Fleetwood Mac took the stage at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan. Given that Kid Rock is a Detroit native and a sincere friend of Nicks’, he of course was in attendance. However, the surprising element of this performance was the impromptu celebration Nicks put together for her dear friend.
Following her performance of “Cowboy” and when she started singing “Landslide,” Kid Rock came on stage, embraced Nicks, and kissed her on the cheek. In retrospect, Kid Rock told the Macomb Daily, “Stevie has always declared me ‘the rock n roll love child’ she never had.”
Rock continued and stated that the performance was a “spontaneous decision” and “I told Stevie when I surprised her that her security was not very good – joking, of course.” Even though this performance happened over ten years ago, we’d still like to believe Kid Rock and Stevie Nicks have remained friends in light of their juxtaposing beliefs. If so, their friendship is truly a testament to a universal truth everything could benefit from.
