We all know about those one-hit wonders—those artists like Men Without Hats or The Knack who have written songs that have risen to the top of the charts but were never really able to write a second song to match the first’s success. But what about those bands that were able to buck the trend? Groups that wrote so many popular tunes that they are, in fact, double-digit-hit wonders.

Britney Spears
Born in McComb, Mississippi, on December 2, 1981, Britney Spears became a sensation in the late 1990s when she released her first single “…Baby One More Time?” The sultry, sticky pop hit was a mainstay on channels like MTV and the accompanying music video propelled her to instant fame. She soon followed that up with songs like “Oops!… I Did It Again” and “Toxic.” To date, the 43-year-old Spears boasts 14 Top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Her latest is a duet with Elton John, “Hold Me Closer.”
Whitney Houston
We go from Britney to Whitney. Born in Newark, New Jersey, on August 9, 1963, Whitney Houston was known as “The Voice” thanks to her powerful pipes. A glamorous artist with a smile that could break your heart, Houston’s first Top-10 hit, “You Give Good Love,” came in 1985. And she followed that up with 22 more to give her a whopping 23 Top-10 hit singles throughout her career. Perhaps best known for her rendition of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” Houston, who sadly died young at just 48 years old, lives on forever thanks to her incredible singing and charisma.
Madonna
Born in Bay City, Michigan, on August 16, 1958, the pop star known as Madonna knew how to ruffle feathers, raise eyebrows, and write hit songs. Her first Top-10 number “Borderline” came in 1984 and she added to that an insane 37 more to give her 38 Top-10 songs in her career. Her latest came in 2012, a collaborative effort with artists Nicki Minaj & M.I.A, “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” But the queen of pop is known for songs like “Vogue,” “Like a Virgin,” and “Like a Prayer.”
