Ads will often enlist famous musicians to help sell their product. If we see someone we admire using said product, why wouldn’t we want to buy it ourselves? While most of those commercials feel aligned with the musician’s brand, there are a fair few that feel, well…odd. Find three of our favorite rock star endorsements in that vein, below.

3 of the Oddest Rock Star Endorsements
1. John Lydon butter commercial
Few people would accuse John Lydon of being a royalist. He and the Sex Pistols often besmirched the name of the royal family and, by extension, the name of Britain as a whole. Because of this, you wouldn’t pair him up with any brand that seeks to bolster the name of the nation. Nevertheless, he did once prop up a butter brand that captures the spirit of British excellence. His irreverent approach to the partnership was just the ticket to make this commercial work.
God save the queen
The fascist regime
They made you a moron
A potential H bomb
God save the queen
She’s not a human being
and There’s no future
And England’s dreaming
2. Alice Cooper for Staples
Next up on our list of rock star endorsements, we have this Alice Cooper ad. In the same vein as lydon’s ad, one wouldn’t readily think Cooper would be a good choice for a school supplies commercial. But, the best ads are the ones that make us laugh. Seeing Cooper in the tame environment of a Staples does just that. Playing off the famous lyrics to “School’s Out,” Cooper fills up his cart with all the necessary pens, pencils, paper, and more for a successful school year.
We can’t salute ya
Can’t find a flag
If that don’t suit ya
That’s a drag
School’s out for summer
School’s out forever
I’m bored to pieces
3. Bob Dylan for Victoria’s Secret
Did you know Bob Dylan was in a Victoria’s Secret commercial? Us either…Dylan took part in an ad for the famed underwear brand in the early ’00s. Though his role in the commercial is somewhat limited, it definitely added a layer of star power.
Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Everybody knows that baby’s got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls
She takes just like a woman
Yes, she does, she makes love just like a woman
Yes, she does, and she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl
