Nobody’s complaining when their hit song makes it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US. That’s an enormous achievement, after all. However, I can only imagine how badly it stings when that number starts to drop. And for these falls from the Hot 100, the biggest and quickest dips from the top of the chart must be awful to watch in real time. Many more than these four hits have fallen hard from the top of the charts, but I think these songs, specifically, are worth mentioning.

1. “4×4” by Travis Scott (2025)
This recent drop from the top is a rough one. Travis Scott’s “4×4” made it to no. 1 on the Hot 100 after its release on January 24, 2025. Sadly, less than a month later on February 15, the rap track fell from no. 1 to no. 57. That’s a steep drop, and one of the hardest drops in the history of the chart.
2. “Trollz” by 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj (2020)
One of the biggest falls from the top of the Hot 100 goes to 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj’s 2020 track “Trollz”. In fact, this was the hardest drop from no. 1 that year. “Trollz” went from topping the chart after its release on June 12, 2020 to hitting no. 34 by July 4, 2020.
3. “Willow” by Taylor Swift (2021)
I know this one stung, considering how much Taylor Swift enjoys staying at the top of the charts for as long as possible. Back in 2020, Swift released “Willow” on December 11. The chamber folk song topped the Hot 100 soon after, but then quickly fell to no. 38 less than a month later on January 2, 2021.
4. “Heartless” by The Weeknd (2019)
The biggest falls from the Hot 100 are usually pretty surprising. And it was definitely a shock when The Weeknd’s “Heartless” came tumbling down from the top of the chart in 2019. This R&B trap hit was released on November 27 that year and quickly reached no. 1. By December 21, the song fell to a humble no. 17.
