Taylor Swift, Morgan Wallen Secure Multiple Slots on the Top Billboard 200 Albums of the 21st Century Chart

The Top Billboard 200 Albums of the 21st Century list dropped earlier today. It chronicles the highest-charting entries on the publication’s all-genre albums chart since the turn of the century. The top 10 entries won’t surprise anyone who has been paying attention to the music industry. Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift occupy four spots in the upper region of the list, notching two albums each.

Music fans came out of the woodwork to share their displeasure with Billboard’s list. However, this isn’t a list of the best albums with the most creative songs. Instead, it chronicles the chart success of albums since 2000. With that in mind, it is no surprise to see Wallen and Swift’s names appear multiple times in the top 10.

Billboard Recognizes Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift’s Massive Albums

Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album claimed the top spot which shocked many. However, it’s not surprising when one takes into account how huge the East Tennessee native’s 2021 sophomore album was. It was the first ever album by a solo artist to spend more than 100 weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, logging 158 weeks in the upper reaches of the chart. It also topped the all-genre survey for 10 weeks.

Wallen’s most recent release, One Thing at a Time landed at No. 6 on the list. While not as groundbreaking as Dangerous, it spent 19 weeks atop the Billboard 200.

Wallen wasn’t the only artist to have two albums reach the top 10 of the century-spanning survey. Taylor Swift occupies the No. 3 and No. 4 slots with Fearless and 1989, respectively.

Swift’s 2008 sophomore album Fearless spent 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200 upon its release. Her 2014 album 1989 also topped the survey for 11 weeks.
