4 Super Underrated Alternative Rock Albums From 2024

2024 was a rough year for many, and we’re certainly happy to leave it behind. That being said, below all the glitz and glamour of pop music that was released this year, quite a few alternative rock bands released absolutely killer albums… And they haven’t gotten as much praise as they should have. Let’s celebrate a few of the most underrated alternative albums to come out in 2024!

1. ‘Rack’ by The Jesus Lizard

Rack is The Jesus Lizard’s first studio album since 1998. These hugely influential noise rockers ended that 26-year streak of nothing with a killer comeback, to say the least.

Rack shows The Jesus Lizard at their gnarliest, complete with the return of original drummer Mac McNeilly. Where many similar bands from The Jesus Lizard’s era continue to attempt to rehash the same old same old, these icons stuck to the script while still creating something that new fans can find fresh interest in.

2. ‘Focus On Nature’ by The Bevis Frond

The Bevis Frond makes it to our list of underrated alternative albums to come out of 2024, and it’s honestly surprising that this record hasn’t gotten more attention.

This Nick Saloman-led outfit has been around since the 1980s and released quite a few albums. Following up an already hefty discography is no easy feat, but they pulled it off with Focus On Nature. If you love 1970s psychedelic folk and killer guitar solos, check this album out ASAP.

3. ‘Love Is The Call’ by Cast

Cast’s 1995 debut All Change is a memorable record in the history of the Britpop explosion. That era has come and gone, but Cast still manages to dish out some impressive tunes that are easy to love today.

Love Is The Call is simply magical, and the band’s sound hits the sweet spot between nostalgic and sonically relevant.

4. ‘Walk Thru Me’ by The Folk Implosion

This entry on our list of underrated alternative albums from 2024 has been a long time coming. The Folk Implosion has been working on Walk Thru Me for a few years, and it was well worth the wait.

This release is more on the collaborative side compared to what the band was putting out in the 1990s, but it only gives the record more character. “The Day You Died” is our favorite track, but the whole thing is essential listening for fans of indie rock and trip hop.
