Karaoke night is a time-honored tradition, and choosing a good karaoke song is important. Genre, singing style, and vocal ability all go into the decision, although the main component of karaoke is simply having fun. If you’re into rock, here are four songs to choose from that are great for karaoke.

“Bring Me To Life” — Evanescence
I’ve personally seen someone perform this song at karaoke, and it never fails to get everyone excitedly singing along. Once those piano notes start up in the beginning, everyone knows what song is coming, and the sheer thrill that goes through the gathered patrons is unmatched. It’s especially fun if you can get a call and response going in the chorus.
“I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)” — Meat Loaf
This song is for those who have a flair for the dramatic and aren’t afraid to show it off. The theatrical nature of this song is great for getting a little silly on stage at karaoke night, and it’s even better if you can emulate Meat Loaf’s vocals. Grab a friend to come in for the final verses, sung by Lorraine Crosby, and you’ve got yourself a delightfully campy duet you can break out any time.
“All For You” — Sister Hazel
For a late 90s feel at your next karaoke night, why not try Sister Hazel’s “All For You.” This is a great rock tune to get the crowd going with vocals that are endlessly fun to mimic. If you’re good at sounding like other artists, karaoke will really open up for you in terms of how much fun you can have. Many people think karaoke has to be good, but it’s completely the opposite—sometimes, worse is better, as long as you’re having fun.
“Faithfully” — Journey
Finally, “Faithfully” by Journey would make a great karaoke song for a similar reason to “I’d Do Anything For Love”—the drama of it all. “Faithfully” tells a clear story, and it’s dramatic instrumentals and vocals bolster that narrative. This one might take some practice, but that’s what long car rides are for. If you can get this one down, you can pretty much sing anything.
