5 Underrated Stevie Nicks Songs That Deserve More Love

Stevie Nicks is such a legend today, it’s hard to imagine the powerhouse singer/songwriter behind “Rhiannon” and “Silver Springs” ever having underrated songs in her discography. However, she does have quite a few deep cuts from her long and eclectic career that could use some love. Let’s take a look!

1. “Rooms On Fire”

This stunning song from The Other Side Of The Mirror is a fantastic example of Stevie Nicks’ vibe throughout the 1980s. “Rooms On Fire” is an arresting and addicting love song. If you’ve ever caught feelings for someone but felt intense anxiety over how fickle they could actually be, you’ll relate to this Stevie Nicks classic a lot.

2. “Blue Denim”

A fan favorite among underrated Stevie Nicks songs out there, “Blue Denim” comes from Nicks’ 1994 album Street Angel. Remember when Nicks hit the stage with her former bandmates (and former lover, Lindsey Buckingham) for Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1993? “Blue Denim” sounds like a diary entry Nicks had written about the experience. The title of the song is a reference to the color of Buckingham’s eyes.

3. “Sara”

Tusk is still known as one of the most expensive records ever produced, and it’s a pretty underrated release from Fleetwood Mac in the grand scheme of things. There are a ton of gems on that 1979 album, one of which being Nicks’ “Sara”. This song was written about a fling Nicks had with Mick Fleetwood and her unexpected pregnancy with Don Henley of The Eagles. It’s an intimate, vulnerable, and arresting song that you won’t forget easily.

4. “After The Glitter Fades”

“After The Glitter Fades” comes from Nicks’ debut solo record from 1981, Bella Donna. The song is a fascinating look into how Nicks reckoned with her own status as a famous person, and the fact that her 15 minutes of fame could have been up at any moment, leaving her dejected on the street. Honestly, Nicks’ more vulnerable songs are some of her absolute best.

5. “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?”

This is one of the most underrated Stevie Nicks songs ever, from one of Nicks’ most underrated albums, the 1985 record Rock A Little. At the time of writing “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?”, Nicks had a rocky relationship with Eagles’ Joe Walsh. However, tragedy and inspiration struck Nicks when Walsh took her to visit a memorial for his deceased three-year-old daughter, Emma, who was killed in a car accident about a decade prior.

“Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?” is a tender tribute to Emma, and it’s so emotional that it’s hard to believe Nicks wrote the song about someone she never even met.
