It’s been nearly a year since Lainey Wilson cleaned up at the ACM Awards, walking away with both the Female Artist and Entertainer of the Year trophies. That stunning success followed years of grit, determination, and just plain hard work from the 32-year-old Baskin, Louisiana native. With Thursday’s (March 27) announcement of this year’s ACM Award nominees, another gutsy woman in country music is clearly following a similar trajectory. First-time nominee Ella Langley is also this year’s most-nominated artist with eight ACM nods. And Wilson recently shared her thoughts on the “you look like you love me” singer’s jaw-dropping accomplishment.

Lainey Wilson “Could Not Be More Excited” For Ella Langley
This year’s ACM Awards ceremony is set for May 8, with Reba McEntire hosting yet again. Ella Langley will walk into the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, as the night’s most-recognized artist. The Alabama native, 25, scored eight nominations, including Female Artist of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year.
As the Academy’s reigning Female Artist of the Year, Lainey Wilson, celebrated her latest pair of No. 1 hits, the “4x4xU” singer took some time to sing Langley’s praises.
“I see a lot of myself in Ella,” a smiling Wilson said. “We really are great friends and I’m so, so proud for her. I could not be more thrilled. I could not be more excited to see it happening to a girl that just knows who she is. She shows up, and she rolls her sleeves up, and she is ready to kick down barn doors.”
Wilson knows a thing or two about kicking down barn doors. “You gotta have that spirit in this business, because if you don’t have that spirit, there’s somebody behind you that’s gonna and they’re gonna knock down the barn door for ya,” said the “Hang Tight Honey” singer. “She’s one of those.”
Will Ella Langley Win Big at This Year’s ACM Awards?
At this May’s ACM Awards, Lainey Wilson will compete against Ella Langley for Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Visual Media of the Year. However, the six-time nominee isn’t betting against her friend.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if she don’t come in there with her broom and start sweeping it up,” Wilson said. “And I’ll be behind her with the little dustpan.”
