Cody Jinks has been on a hot streak this year. So far, he has released two new tracks–“Put the Whiskey Down” and “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)”–and appeared on a collaboration with Lamb of God’s Mark Morton. Today (April 4), he’s back with another new track. Check out “Snake Bit” below.

Jinks didn’t just come with a new song today. He stepped into the world with a statement of defiance and determination. “Snake Bit” sees him taking on metaphorical snakes in the grass with a determination to carry on and remove them from his life. In a recent social media post, the singer/songwriter revealed a bit of information about the snakes he’s singing about in the new track.
“The music business is full of sharks and snakes,” he wrote in the post. “I can deal with sharks. I am a shark. It’s the snakes I will not suffer,” he added.
Cody Jinks Went Fully Independent in 2024
Last spring, Cody Jinks released Change the Game. He made several life changes before starting work on the album including getting sober and going fully independent. He spoke about the decision to take full control of his career in an interview with American Songwriter.
“I just got to the point where I felt like I was at a ceiling and I needed to do something different,” he explained. “A lot of things happened in my life that led me to this place. It’s exciting, it’s a lot more challenging than it was,” he added. “It was just time for it to happen. I didn’t necessarily think that it was going to happen, but it did and, at this point, I’m very comfortable with it,” he said.
Since making that decision, Jinks has released three albums. First came Change the Game. Then, he re-released his 2012 album 30 before ending the year with Cody Jinks Sings Lefty Frizzell, a tribute to the legendary singer/songwriter.
