David Crosby’s Profound Advice About Death, Dying, and How To Live It up Before We Kick the Bucket

If you were fortunate enough to know your grandparents, then you just know how much wisdom they had. Invaluable wisdom that you might not have listened to in the moment, but now acts as one of your core values and guiding rules. Though as we get older and our grandparents pass, it’s difficult to procure this type of knowledge from a role model figure. So, if you are looking for advice of this nature, we have found something for you, and it comes from the late, great, and incredibly wise David Crosby from before his death in 2023.

David Crosby has metaphorically lived, died, and resurrected far more than once. Between his struggles with drug abuse and tempestuous friendships and romances, the man was a treasure chest full of advice about what to do and what not to do in this life. That being said, before his passing in 2023, David Crosby dropped a priceless piece of wisdom about death, dying, and how to live life in light of the fear.

Why David Crosby Never Feared Death

Near the end of his life, David Crosby appeared on The Howard Stern Show to discuss his new album, For Free. However, the conversation didn’t pertain to Crosby’s swan song. Rather, Crosby opened up about death and acknowledged that he didn’t have a lot of time left. However, he also noted that this fact would not stop him from soaking in the time he did have left.

“Well, you know, I am at the end of my life, Howard, and it’s a very strange thing,” said Crosby. “Here is what I’ve come to about it. It’s not about how much time you got, because we really don’t know, I could have two weeks, I could have ten years, it’s what you do with the time that you do have.”

Crosby continued to say that in light of his age, he is grateful for every day and lives each and every one to the best of his ability.

“People get old and die, and that’s how it works, and I’m going to,” Crosby added, regarding his thoughts on death. “But in the meantime, I’m going to have myself a bunch of fun, I guarantee it, because I have a phd in fun, as you well know.”

“I know I’m supposed to quietly shuffle off in the distance, but I’m not going to,” Crosby concluded.

You might have heard this piece of advice before, though that doesn’t diminish the honesty behind it. After all, when you’re at the end of the rope, which we all will be at some point, what else can you do other than find that silver lining?
