On tonight’s American Idol Grand Finale, current finalists and former contestants were joined by incredible artists to celebrate the end of season 23. During the show, the Goo Goo Dolls accompanied former contestant Mattie Pruitt on stage to perform “Iris.”

The band had the crowd singing along to the iconic 90s jam, including Carrie Underwood. Pruitt joined the duo on the main stage to close out the performance, which was backed by rousing strings. After the performance, Ryan Seacrest announced that the Goo Goo Dolls are embarking on a tour with Dashboard Confessional.
At just 15 years old, Pruitt gave a memorable audition for the judges. She made it to the Top 7, performing “Remember Me” from Coco during the Disney night. Pruitt looked stunning in a crystal-encrusted dress as she joined the group on the main stage.
American Idol Offers Memorable Performances for Grand Finale
The American Idol Grand Finale is packed with star power. Patti LaBelle took the stage with Kolbi Jordan, who made it to the Top 24. Additionally, Kirk Franklin joined Canaan James Hill to sing two of his iconic gospel songs.
The three finalists also performed several times, once on their own and again with other performers. Brandon Lake sang with Breanna Nix, performing Lake’s song “Daddy’s DNA,” while Jamal Roberts joined Jelly Roll and John Foster performed with with Luke Bryan, where the two sang “Deeper Than the Holler.”
Fans also have the chance to catch all three judges performing together, singing “Stuck On You.” Carrie Underwood takes the stage with Slater Nalley, and The War and Treaty perform with Thunderstorm Artis.
Overall, the American Idol Grand Finale is a spectacular event showcasing the best of season 23. Everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting to see who is crowned the winner, but in the meantime there’s plenty to be excited for.
