A little over a year after his Grand Ole Opry debut, former American Idol winner Scotty McCreery returned to the sacred stage to give the live debut of his new single, “Bottle Rockets”. McCreery’s performance transpired the night of Wednesday, June 4, 2025. While Hootie & The Blowfish were unfortunately not present for McCreery’s performance of their collaborative single, it seemingly was still a great show

Following the show, the Grand Ole Opry stated in a post, “The song of the summer got its Opry debut tonight!” “Who else is loving Opry star @scottymccreery’s new tune, ‘Bottle Rockets’,” the post concluded. Fans quickly flocked to the comments section of the post to praise the performance and the single.
One fan wrote, “My new summer jam,” while another added, “Yes love it, my summer song!” Per the comments, it seems McCreery’s new single with Hootie & The Blowfish is the unofficial song of the summer. And given its performance, that title is fairly justifiable.
Is Scotty McCreery’s “Bottle Rockets” Truly The Song of The Summer?
Scotty McCreery released his single “Bottle Rockets” on May 15, 2025. Now, three weeks out from the release, McCreery and Hootie & the Blowfish’s single has garnered 245k views on YouTube and 1.7 million streams on Spotify. Thanks to its streaming and viewing success, the single debuted at No. 30 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and peaked at No. 29. Though it can certainly go up at this point in time.
Following the release of the single, Scotty McCreery took to Instagram to share the motivation behind the summer anthem. He stated in the post, “We were sitting around the couch talking about old summers and reminiscing on those good times, and the soundtracks of those summers.”Per this comment, Scotty McCreery’s mission was to seemingly create an anthem that folks could add to their own summer soundtracks.
As of now, McCreery has accomplished that feat, and given that this song has only been out for three weeks, he is on track to accomplish more feats like it.
