NBC Hosts Have No Idea Who Country Star Is During US Army Parade, and “Country Music Fans Are Very Frustrated”

Only breaking into country music a few years ago, Warren Zeiders wasted little time as he consistently released an album each year. From 2021 to 2024, he recorded albums like Acoustic Covers, 717 Tapes the Album, Pretty Little Poison, and his latest, Relapse. He also held nearly two million followers on Instagram. But even with his stardom rising, it appeared the NBC anchors helming the US Army’s 250th birthday parade had no idea who the country singer was.

Over the weekend, the White House administration decided to celebrate the birthday of the army with a spectacular display of military power, hit performances, and more than enough fireworks to light up the night sky. But one of the highlights of the parade happened when anchors Aaron Gilchrist and Kelly O’Donnell struggled to remember who Zeiders was. Jump to 2:10:00 to see for yourself.

The hilarious moment happened when the broadcast cut to a video of lightning. At first, the anchors thought the images were from an approaching storm. But they soon realized it was the intro to Zeiders. Unknown to them at the time, the country singer was performing his song “Ride the Lightning. O’Donnell said, “I don’t know who this is singing right now. And I probably should.” She continued, “We were told there would be a surprise. I was also hoping we would be told who the surprise is, but this is I’m sure an important booking.”

NBC Anchors Needed “The Google” To Remember Warren Zeiders

The announcer quickly asked the control room for more information on the singer. But it appeared they didn’t even know. Gilchrist even pleaded, “If anyone in our control room has an idea, we’d love to hear it, just for folks that are watching.”

Eventually, they were given the name, but that didn’t help matters as the anchors couldn’t get the name right. “Warren Zeiders? Wallen Zeiders? I think it was Wallen. Time for the Google. Country music fans are very frustrated with us right now that we don’t know that.”

Thankfully, while the anchors couldn’t get the singer’s name right, they were able to discover the title of the song. “That’s why we’re seeing it on the screen. That makes it all makes sense now, that ‘Ride the Lightning’ is one of his hits.”

While the anchors quickly moved it, the hilarious mixup became a highlight of the parade.
