For the country a cappella group Home Free, the band gained fame in the music industry when they won the fourth season of The Sing-Off back in 2013. Since that moment, the group released several albums like Country Evolution and their latest, Any Kind of Christmas. With Home Free welcoming several new members over the years, recently, Austin Brown, who used to perform with the band, took the stage alone when he auditioned on America’s Got Talent. And even with the singer tackling an original song, he quickly showed why he deserved to be in the competition.

While auditioning for America’s Got Talent, Brown had more than a few years worth of experience. Joining Home Free back in 2012, he helped them win The Sing-Off. But just last year, he announced he was leaving the group to focus on his family and explore a career as a solo artist. Wasting no time, he found himself standing in front of Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara, and Mel B.
Sadly, Brown’s time on AGT ended after he failed to impress the judges. But not wanting to give up on his dream, he convinced the producers to give him another chance. And sure enough, that chance presented itself. Not wanting to waste the moment, he decided to do away with covering a hit song and displayed an original titled “Somebody Believed.”

Austin Brown Gains Praise For Original Song “Somebody Believed”
As Brown hit the last note, he was left speechless when the judges showered him with praise. For Vergara, she insisted, “This is you. It feels organic. It was what you were meant to always be singing. And you looked like you were enjoying yourself.”
With Cowell known for his brutal honesty, even he couldn’t find a mistake. “This, I think, sounded true to who you are. You made the right decision to come back, well done.”
Both Mandel and Mel B sided with their fellow judges when it came to the feedback. As for the voting, all four gave Brown a “yes”, pushing him into the next round.
While Brown still has a long way to go before the finale, don’t miss a new episode of AGT, airing on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. For those who happen to miss an episode, AGT can be streamed the following day on Peacock.
