To some fans, country music is fading away right before our eyes. To other fans, it is flourishing. Though, bottom line, there is still music out there for every type of country music fan. Now, the old school might not have the same limelight as the new school, but isn’t that what makes it old school? And the new school might not have that traditional roots sound, but isn’t that what makes it a new school?

Nevertheless, there is something for everyone in the current day of country music, and it’s thanks to some of the newer talent who have entered the genre. Particularly, these three musicians, as they are keeping alive the old school and paving the way for the new school.
Zach Top
Zach Top solidified his place in the mainstream with his debut 2024 album, Cold Beer & Country Music. Since then, Zach Top has drawn comparisons to Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, and many more of the greatest country musicians of the 90s.
Top, with new wave showmanship, is bringing back the past, and he is not doing so in a redundant way. So, for you country music fans who think country music is straying away from its roots, Zach Top is here to tell you that it isn’t.
Post Malone
To a certain extent, Post Malone is the antithesis of Zach Top, as he is infusing the genre with 21st-century pop sounds and trends. This might rub some country music fans the wrong way, but there is one thing you can’t argue with when it comes to Post Malone. That is the fact that he has grown the genre and introduced it to a new fan base.
Post Malone’s debut country album, F-1 Trillion, absolutely rocked the world of country and popular music. It was an enormous crossover hit, and consequently, it showed that country music contains the multitudes to be musically and culturally multifaceted.
Sierra Ferrell
Sierra Ferrell is arguably the most popular figure in the Americana country music scene at this very moment. That being so, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if she were named the “Queen of Americana.” Ferrell has revamped roots music to the masses by doing collaborations with Post Malone, Lukas Nelson, and Joe Jonas. In other words, she is not closed off to the new school of thought whatsoever.
While Ferrell’s music is primarily tagged as roots music and Americana, the picker and singer can play both sides. Thus, showing that country music can exist in a plethora of different ways and capacities. In short, there is no better spokesperson for Americana country music than Sierra Ferrell.
