Country Singer Has Music Equipment Stolen After Concert: “My Heart Immediately Dropped”

Still carving his path in country music, Cody Cozz prepared to head home after touring the country over the last few weeks. Although ready to spend some time with family and friends, he watched one of his worst fears become a reality when he learned that somebody had broken into his trailer and stolen his equipment. While still working with authorities and insurance companies, Cozz took a moment to thank fans and even his fellow country music singers for their continued support.

Speaking with 11 News about the incident, Cozz explained how he was about to get on a flight when his tour manager shared the devastating news. “My heart immediately dropped, and I was just really disappointed. I got over there as quickly as I could just to see what was gone, and a lot of it was mostly small things, things that were right up at the front.”

Good news, it appeared the thieves knew little about the equipment, as Cozz added that a majority of the “expensive stuff” was still in the trailer. “A lot of the more expensive stuff was there still, thank the Lord, but pretty much all of my drummer’s things were gone and all of our cables, our mics, tool boxes of stuff, pretty much like things of that nature.”

While not wanting to cancel future performances over the stolen equipment, Cozz watched as the community around him came to his aid. “Although this unfortunate situation happened, it’s been completely overshadowed by phenomenal people, a phenomenal community that have come together to help me get things going immediately again.” He continued, “So, although there’s like a dark situation that happened, there’s so much brighter, and the community is as amazing as I know it to be…“

Cozz even revealed how some big names in Nashville quickly reached out, using their stardom to get him the equipment he needed. With fans and singers supporting the rising star, he couldn’t thank them enough. “At this moment, like I said in my hour of need, they’ve just like come together as they always have for me.”

Although working to recoup his losses from the incident, for now, Cozz started a GoFundMe page for those who wished to help.
