Please Don’t Delete: Morgan Wallen’s Sister Delivers a Goosebump-Inducing Acoustic Cover of “House of the Rising Sun”

Back in 2014, an unknown country artist named Morgan Wallen competed on season 6 of NBC’s The Voice. He didn’t win, but established the connections he needed to get a foot in the industry door. Two years later, the Sneedville, Tennessee-born artist sent his debut single, “The Way I Talk,” to the Billboard Country Airplay Top 30. Fast forward a decade, and Wallen is currently the hottest thing in country music as his fifth album, I’m the Problem, recently reclaimed its spot atop the Billboard 200. However, a recent video from the “Whiskey Glasses” crooner’s sister proves that he isn’t the only one in the family with musical talent.

Morgan Wallen grew up singing three-part harmonies with two of his younger sisters, Ashlyne and Mikaela. Ashlyne even makes a cameo on her brother’s 2021 record, Dangerous: The Double Album. Wallen also wanted Mikaela on the album, but said the timing didn’t work out as she had recently given birth.

However, don’t take Mikaela’s absence to mean the musical gene passed her by. The 28-year-old recently showcased her own vocal process with a smoky cover of “House of the Rising Sun.” Although gaining mainstream fame with the Animals’ 1964 cover, the traditional folk tune was first collected in 1930s Appalachia.

“Felt brave.. might delete later but the acoustics go crazy in here,” Mikaela wrote on TikTok Thursday (Aug. 8.)

No need for that, according to the comments. “Okay so Morgan featuring mikaela song next orr?” one TikTok user wrote.

“Absolute goosebumps!” another gushed. “So amazing! Those Wallen genes are STRONG!”
