Blake Shelton Receives the Ultimate Stamp of Approval From His Stepson—and as a Dad, Could You Ask for Anything More?

While showing a different side of himself on The Voice, Blake Shelton never strayed far from country music. Spending over two decades in the genre, the singer charted 40 singles and many of them landed the No. 1 spot. Having released a dozen studio albums, his last, Body Language, hit shelves back in 2021. And in 2024, Shelton decided to make a major change when he left Warner Music Nashville to join the label BBR Music Group. Already releasing new music with “Texas”, the singer recently offered the feedback he received from his son.

Sharing a conversation with the BBR Music Group, Shelton recalled getting the approval of his stepson Apollo .”I got to tell you, our youngest, Apollo, he only started hearing it about three weeks ago. [I was] playing it around to be sure I know it when it comes time to sing it, and he came up to me after school and he goes, ‘You know that new song? That’s really catchy. I’ve been singing it all day at school.’” He added, “I was like, ‘That’s good, because we’re putting it out.’ [Apollo went,] ‘Oh good, I think that one’s going to go for you,’ you know?”

Blake Shelton Always Gets The Approval Of Gwen Stefani

While getting the approval from Apollo, Shelton always held the advice of his wife Gwen Stefani close. Also producing an ongoing career on stage, Stefani apparently always knew what Shelton was working on. “Of course, Gwen [is] always, always aware of anything that I got going on musically. I play her everything before I get going and record it just to get her thoughts on it. Sometimes she’ll really have a strong opinion and sometimes she’ll go, ‘Man, I don’t know. I don’t know about that one. Maybe, maybe not. Maybe not.’”

With Shelton gaining the approval of Stefani and Apollo, fans appeared to agree with the assessment. As the music video climbed over 1.5 million views, comments included, “I am not really a Country music fan, but I do enjoy Blake Shelton‘s music.” Another person insisted, “This is a hit!!! Oh how I love a song with clever lyrics. How can you not love a song with Georgia Strait, Texas, Tennessee, reckon, and sung by Blake. Perfection!”
