Country star Blake Shelton took the stage in Times Square to dazzle the gathered crowd on New Year’s Eve as everyone watched the iconic ball drop. Shelton sang a medley of hits that kept the crowd going even in the cold temperatures in New York City. Performing during New Year’s Rockin’ Eve is a big commitment, as the show is one of the most popular New Year’s Eve traditions. However, Shelton is a longtime professional, so of course he handled it flawlessly.

Performing from his bar, Ole Red, Shelton delivered one of his fresher hits on New Year’s Eve night, singing “Pour Me a Drink.”
Blake Shelton is joined by fellow country stars like Carrie Underwood, Megan Moroney, Ernest, Hardy, Cody Johnson, and Dasha as performers tonight. Additionally, Alanis Morisette, Natasha Bedingfield, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the Jonas Brothers, Tinashe, Kesha, and T-Pain will also take the stage, among others. Ryan Seacrest is hosting along with Rita Ora, while Rob Gronkowski hosts from Las Vegas and Jeannie Mai hosts from Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Sophie Ellis-Bextor performed her global hit “Murder On the Dancefloor,” which saw a resurgence this year with its inclusion in the film Saltburn. Lenny Kravitz also rocked out with some of his biggest hits along with songs from his new album, Blue Electric Light.
Blake Shelton Recalls His Stepson Accidentally FaceTiming Vince Gill
New Year’s Eve is a time for reminiscing on the past year and looking forward to the next one, but there’s maybe one moment that Blake Shelton might not want to revisit. Earlier this month, while speaking with CMT, Shelton recalled his middle stepson, Zuma, accidentally FaceTiming music legend Vince Gill a few years ago.
“One day [Zuma] accidently called Vince on my phone. He FaceTimed him on accident,” Shelton recalled. “He thought he was calling his nanny Vince and he called Vince Gill.” He added, “I remember I was walking through the house and I heard Vince Gill’s voice kind of laughing. And I looked and I saw Zuma throw the phone down. He was like, ‘I don’t know. There was some man that answered Vince’s phone.’ I looked and he had called Vince Gill who was in Amsterdam with the Eagles.”
Vince Gill, the trooper that he is, took the whole situation in stride, of course. However, Blake Shelton would rather not have a repeat performance. “Years later, Zuma is the biggest Vince Gill fan in the world,” he said. “He’s like ‘Can we FaceTime him again?’ and I’m like, ‘No. Never again, actually. That was humiliating for me.’”
