Underwood recently released a statement regarding her performance at the inauguration. Some fans may have assumed her performance would be a political statement, but Underwood is adamant that it’s the opposite. Instead, she sees it as a call for unity and togetherness.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she told People. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Still, many Carrie Underwood fans disagreed, with the general question being “why would she do this?” Underwood has never taken much of a political stance, and told The Guardian in 2019, “I try to stay far out of politics, if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins,” adding. “It’s crazy. Everybody tried to sum everything up and put a bow on it like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”

Additional performances include Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, and The Village People. They will perform during the inaugural rally the Sunday before Inauguration Day. Many fans on social media are excited to see the lineup for the inauguration, as many of these performers have put their support behind the President-elect.
