While the music industry lost an icon on July 22nd when Ozzy Osbourne passed away, for Sharon, Jack, Kelly, and Aimee, it was someone much more important. Outside of his wild life in heavy metal, Ozzy was a husband, father, and grandfather. Loving each new title he received, the family walked the streets of Birmingham, celebrating his life and legacy one last time. And with countless tributes pouring in over the last week, Celine Dion recently took a moment to remember the Prince of Darkness.

Posting a throwback picture of Ozzy on her Facebook page, Dion expressed the sadness she felt surrounding the singer’s death. She even shared her admiration for Ozzy. “I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy and I were label mates for many years— and although we came from very different musical universes, I always admired his boundless spirit and ear for melody on songs like ‘Mama I’m Coming Home.’ He was a true original! Fearless, and simply larger than life…but also kind, thoughtful, and generous.”
Fans Push For Birmingham Airport To Be Called Ozzy Osbourne International
Although remembering Ozzy and his contributions to the music industry, Dion didn’t forget about those closest to him. “My heart is with his beloved wife Sharon, their children, and his millions of adoring fans from around the world.”
While fans agreed with Dion, others went far beyond just words. Launching a Change.org petition, some pushed for the Birmingham airport to be renamed Ozzy Osbourne International. Suggesting he invented heavy metal, the petition read, “Ozzy’s influence on music and culture is undeniable. Naming our international airport after him would be a fitting tribute to his extraordinary career and contributions to the arts.”
For those who might find the idea a little strange, the organizer added, “Other airports in the UK are named after their famous children (George Best International Airport in Belfast, John Lennon Airport in Liverpool) so it is only right that we do this here in Birmingham, in honour of Ozzy.”
With Ozzy having fans all over the world, the petition has already received over 55,000 verified signatures.
