The 9-year-old rose to the occasion. She sweetly watched as Messina sang the first part of the song, before she took over the track.
Brynley confidently held the mic and sang the song as Messina danced beside her and encouraged her to keep going.
A fan posted video of the sweet moment on TikTok. Brynley’s mom Amy Hataway commented on the post, sharing how much the experience meant to her and her daughter.
“JoDee truly made her dream come through,” the proud mom wrote. “9 years old and loving old 90’s country!! She is Jodee’s #1 fan!!”
Hataway also posted a TikTok documenting her and her daughter’s time at the show. She called it “the most memorable night ever.”
Jo Dee Messina’s Career
It’s no surprise Messina made an incredible moment for her young fan. In the bio on her website, Messina highlighted the energy and love she brings to her live shows.
“Jo Dee’s passionate and high-energy performances have captivated audiences at every tour stop,” the bio read. “Jo Dee continuously sells out venues of all types, with a live show that entertains fans of all ages and gives them opportunities to create memories, as generations come together and sing the songs that continue to make up much of their lives’ soundtracks.”
Additionally, in a 2024 interview with Cleveland Scene, Messina spoke about how much she enjoys performing live.
“I grew up singing live. For me, my comfort level is higher on the stage,” she said. “At that point in your career, everything moves so fast. It’s great to be able to relive that now with a bit of wisdom and being able to take it slowly and appreciate every concert and every fan.”
She’s not slowing down anytime soon. Messina has a packed tour schedule, with shows scheduled throughout the U.S. all year long.
