Cody Johnson has declared on several occasions that life would look quite different without his wife, Brandi. “I would probably be dead or in jail,” the country singer-songwriter previously remarked. The two married in 2008 and have two daughters, Clara Mae and Cori. Even penning his No. 1 hit “The Painter” as a tribute to her, Johnson takes his role of family man very seriously. And thanks to the “Dirt Cheap” crooner, one California dad can rest easy knowing his daughter is in good hands.

Cody Johnson Made His Way Into This Father of the Bride Speech
This is probably an understatement, but weddings are emotional occasions. As a parent, you can only hope that your child is marrying the right person. Recently, the father of a bride named Aly shared the moment he knew his daughter had met the perfect guy. For him, it happened at a Cody Johnson concert in Sacramento.
“So we’re sitting there watching the concert, and my wife looks at me and says, ‘Turn around and look at your daughter,’” the man said during his speech.
He did, and what he saw warmed his heart. “Noah and Aly are dancing in the middle of the concert… and you would have thought there was nobody else in that arena, except for the two of them,” he said. “And we looked at each other and we said, ‘Yep, this is the real deal.’ They truly, truly love each other, and it was a beautiful, beautiful thing.”
His daughter, who goes by the handle @blondedbyaly on TikTok, shared a clip of the heartfelt moment to her page. “Still crying over my dad’s speech at our wedding,” she wrote. “thankful for our videographer capturing this moment! We love you Cody Johnson!”

“There Was Only One Waylon Jennings”
In the end, Cody Johnson got exactly where he wanted to be, scoring a pair of No. 1 hits and collecting trophies from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. However, he admits he may have emulated his favorite country star a bit too well.
“There was only one Waylon Jennings, and you don’t have to live that crazy,” Johnson recently told his younger self. “It’s not going to get you anywhere. Maybe pray more, drink less, things like that.”
