“I Am Haunted. I Am Stricken”: Hozier Postponed Upcoming Tour Dates After Struggling at Governors Ball

Landing the headlining spot at the Governors Ball in New York City, Hozier prepared for a night that featured songs like “Cherry Wine” and “Take Me To Church.” The only problem, the singer felt himself getting sick. Not wanting to cancel the performance, Hozier decided to power through, hoping it was just nerves. But when taking the stage, he struggled through the set. Able to finish, Hozier recently announced he was postponing his upcoming shows to focus on his recovery.

During the Governors Ball, Hozier addressed the sickness with the crowd. Not wanting those in the audience to believe he was giving his best, the singer insisted, “For anybody who has never seen me before, I promise I sound at least five per cent better on average. I am haunted. I am stricken—by the spectre of puberty one more time.”

Alongside Hozier, members of his band were also under the weather. Not wanting to push forward, the singer’s concerts in New Jersey (June 10th) and Missouri (June 11th) ended up being postponed. Sharing a message about the decision to move the dates, Hozier wrote, “Due to illness my upcoming performances originally scheduled for Tuesday, June 10 at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, NJ and Thursday, June 12 at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, MO are being rescheduled. The Camden show will now take place on July 15, and the Ridgedale show will take place on July 22.”

Hozier Thanks Fans For Their Support During Sickness

Although sick, fans can rest easy knowing that the shows weren’t canceled, just postponed. Hozier added, “All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates. Ticket holders will receive additional information via email. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. My performance at Bonnaroo on June 15 will proceed as planned. Much love.”

As for his performance at the Governors Ball, Hozier received a great deal of support from fans. Although not his best set, fans could visible see how much he struggled. Posting another message of Twitter, he thanked them. “Thank you to @GovBallNYC for having me last night and to the crowd in NYC for being so kind while I struggled through this virus. You gave me such a lift, so much love.”
