Today (January 13), Keith Urban announced the Canadian leg of his High and Alive World Tour. The eight-stop Canadian trek will feature one date in June followed by seven shows in September. When Urban kicks the tour off in May at the Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach, Alabama it will be his first outing in three years. It will also be his first tour without bassist Jerry Flowers in 25 years and his first set of shows without multi-instrumentalist and innovator Nathan Barlowe in nearly a decade.

“Playing live is what I live to do,” Urban shared in a statement. “Looking out from a stage and seeing people singing, forgetting about all the stress in their lives, cutting loose, and feeling ALIVE – that’s what it’s about for me,” he added. Then, the Grammy-winning artist shared what fans can expect from his forthcoming tour “Lots of hits, new songs, things we won’t even think about until we’re onstage – and loads of guitar. We’re gonna make this tour the best night of your life,” he said.
Urban won’t be on the road alone, though. He’ll be bringing Chase Matthew, Alana Springsteen, and Karley Scott Collins along for the ride.
High and Alive Tour Marks a Major Change for Keith Urban
On Friday (January 10), Nathan Barlowe and Jerry Flowers announced that they were no longer with Keith Urban’s band. They didn’t say why Urban decided to cut them from the lineup. At this time, Urban has not made a public statement about the drastic lineup change. However, fans were saddened to hear the news.
Barlowe and Flowers had been key members of Urban’s band for years. Flowers had been in the band for 25 years. To put things into perspective, Urban released his first album in the United States in October 1999. The self-titled release will see its 26th anniversary this year. Flowers joined the band nine years ago. He was more than a multi-instrumentalist, though. He also invented the instrument called The Phantom ahead of Urban’s Ripcord Tour. It has been a large part of his live sound since then.
In short, fans who have attended Urban’s concerts in the past will see a different show during his High and Alive Tour.
