Having gone through a few operations, Bolton remained positive about the future. Already undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatment, the singer consistently received MRIs to stay on top of his health. During his last MRI in April, he announced the scans came back clear. Remembering the entire process, Bolton told People, “It’s unthinkable for it to be okay not to make the most of your life. I think we develop capabilities and problem management, and we learn how to make the best out of a bad situation. You have to be a cheerleader for yourself.”

Michael Bolton Hopes To Return To The Stage

With Bolton having to face his health problems, he admitted that the cancer helped him see his own drive. “You’re reaching into your resources and your resolve in a way that you never would have thought. Succumbing to the challenge is not an option. You’re really quickly drawn into a duel. I guess that’s the way you find out what you’re made of.”

While the treatment caused a great deal of damage to Bolton’s memory, mobility, and speech, the hitmaker pushed forward, taking voice lessons, vocal therapy, and even getting a personal trainer. As for the future, he declared, “It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show. But have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”

Wanting to keep going and performing, Bolton knew that the healing process took time. But he promised, “I want to keep going.” He even created a title for a song. Given Bolton’s fight with cancer, he revealed the title – “Ain’t Going Down Without a Fight.”
