All good things must come to an end. And in 2023, it seemed that the time had come for the Ernest Tubb Record Shop to close its doors for the last time. With Nashville the heart of country music, the city drastically changed over the last decade. Once a place of music, the city seemed to transition into a tourist destination. Featuring bars and restaurants from singers like Garth Brooks, Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert, and several others, the city embraced the future while almost forgetting its past. But thankfully, at its core, Nashville will always remember those who helped country music, as the Ernest Tubb Record Shop will once again open to the public.

Creating a history that dated back to the 1940s, the Ernest Tubb Record Shop offered more than records as Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and Hank Williams all performed there. Giving rising stars a chance to let their voice be heard, the shop quickly became a historic part of the city. But back in 2023, the business permanently closed.
When Will The Ernest Tubb Record Shop Open To The Public
While fans looked for the spot to turn into another bar, restaurant, or venue, last year, the Tusk Brothers decided to bring the shop back to life. Wanting to preserve the history surrounding not just the store but Ernest Tubb, the co-founder of Tusk Brothers, Jamie Kenney said, “We’ve been entrusted with such an important piece of Nashville history, and feel that we’ve become stewards of Ernest Tubb’s story and legacy. Through the Nashville Music Collective, our intent was to carve a path for members of the community to claim a little piece of it as their own – whether they feel a special kinship with the shop, or simply want to be a part of its ongoing story.”
Bryan Kenney, the other half of the Tusk Brothers, saw himself as more than just a business owner. Having a deep love for country music, he said, “We come from a long line of musicians, and we both share a love of history, so the opportunity to play a part in ushering Ernest Tubb Record Shop into its next phase felt too good to be true.”
Teaming up with the Nashville Music Collective, country music artists and musicians were able to own a piece of the Ernest Tubb Record Shop through a community investment initiative.
As for the new grand opening, the Ernest Tubb Record Shop shared its excitement to entertain country music fans once again in the fall of 2025.
