Neil Young to Play Benefit Show for Progressive Canadian Private School, Joins the 2025 Montreux Jazz Festival Lineup

Neil Young recently added two shows to his 2025 performance schedule. The first is a solo benefit gig for a private school located near his hometown in Ontario, Canada, while the second is a concert with his current backing band The Chrome Hearts at the famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

The first show will take place on May 23 on the Northcote Campus of Lakefield College School in Lakefield, Canada. The outdoor event will raise money for the restoration of a farmhouse on the school’s property that was built in 1878, as well as cabins adjacent to the structure.

Lakefield College School is a private day and boarding school for teenagers that, according to its website, seeks to “enable students to reach their individual potential in mind, body and spirit.” The Northcote Campus features an organic educational farm.

Young decided to organize a benefit concert to help raise money for the farmhouse restoration after visiting the school with his wife, actress Daryl Hannah, in the fall of 2024.

According to a post on Young’s official website, Hannah “enjoyed joining the students in harvesting vegetables” and other activities during their visit. The note explained that, as Young and Hannah explored the farmhouse and campus, “they were struck by the character of the site and the school’s commitment to sustainability-focused, hands-on education.”

“This classic turn of the century farm, restored to its original greatness, is a testimony to the history of Canada,” Neil said in a statement.
