Another Friday means more new releases, and here are the songs I’ve been obsessed with this week. Featuring new music from Fontaines D.C. for the first time since their whirlwind 2024, Icelandic sensations KALEO announcing a new album, and Wallows following up “Your New Favorite Song” with another new favorite song.

Fontaines D.C. Release “It’s Amazing To Be Young,” First New Music Following Internationally Acclaimed Album Romance
Irish post-punk darlings Fontaines D.C. are back with a new single following their international breakout album Romance. “It’s Amazing To Be Young” was produced by James Ford, who worked on Romance, and also features a cinematic music video directed by BAFTA-winning director Luna Carmoon. It’s a love story, a reflection on youth, and a little bit Modern English all at the same time. Fontaines D.C. will also be heading out on another huge tour this year, spending time in the U.S. this Spring (if you’re at the Nashville show come say hello).
KALEO Announce New Album Mixed Emotions With New Single “Back Door”
Following their powerful statement on American gun culture in the single “USA Today,” released last year, KALEO have returned with a new album announcement. Mixed Emotions is due on May 9, but the band has already released the new single, “Back Door.” The single is raucous and full of energy, but slows down to a loping stride at the end. It feels like a car chase through the desert, bolstered by frontman JJ Julius Son’s raw, straining vocals as he pushes his voice to the limit.
Wallows Release Another New Favorite Song, “Coffin Change”
Wallows have released another single following “Your New Favorite Song” as well as announced their newest EP, More, out on March 28. “Coffin Change” is dreamy yet propulsive—it pushes for more and more, settles on the line “it’s an unrealistic thought,” before ramping up again after a moment of echoing reflection. More will be released exclusively on Record Store Day, April 12, with a limited edition vinyl pressing and CD. Notably, this will be the only time More will have a physical release, so Wallows fans should head to their local indie record store to grab one when the time comes.
