In 2007, the famed British girl group The Spice Girls had been broken up for the better part of a decade. All that changed on June 21, when the five-piece group announced that they were officially coming back.

Each of the original members would be returning to the stage. That included Mel B (Scary Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie C (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice). With all five members together, the group held a press conference in England. There, they announced that they would be getting back together for a single reunion tour.
The Return of the Spice Girls Tour kicked off that year. Originally, just 11 dates were announced across the globe. However, due to overwhelming demand, the tour was expanded to 47 dates across Europe and North America.

The Spice Girls originally debuted in 1994 and became one of the most iconic musical groups of the turn of the millennium. In fact, Spice Girls as a brand was enormous. It spawned multiple albums, a movie (I owned it on VHS and watched it until it completely fell apart), tours, merchandise, and more. Their “girl power” mantra resonated with the then-young millennials of the era. And their legacy in pop music is still felt today.
Still, all good things must come to an end. Halliwell announced in 1998 that she would be leaving Spice Girls, and it was clear that not all was well. Due to “differences between us,” according to a statement from Halliwell, it was time for her to leave the outfit. They didn’t last long without her, eventually calling it quits in the year 2000. Just as well, different members of the group allegedly wished to pursue solo careers, and there were some legal issues involved. The Spice Girls had to hang it up, seemingly at the height of their fame.
The Return of the Spice Girls reunion tour was a massive success for the group. It pulled in about $70 million. One would think this might inspire the legendary girl group to get back together. Sadly, though, they would only reunite a couple more times, notably without Beckham, before calling it quits for good in 2019.
