On this day (June 25), in 2019, Pink took the stage at the Anfield Arena in Liverpool, England. As she opened the show, a woman in the crowd went into labor. She later gave birth in the arena and named her baby after the performer. As shocking as it may seem, she was not the last woman to go into labor during one of the “Get the Party Started” singer’s concerts.

According to the BBC, Denise Jones went into labor three weeks early during the opening moments of Pink’s concert in Liverpool. Jones’ niece, Chloe Dryhurst, spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside about the baby’s surprise arrival. She revealed her aunt was having “pressure pains” before the show, but thought nothing of them. “Before she was going, she was fine. She got dressed all nice, everything was fine,” Dryhurst explained. “But she said once she was in there and the music started, that’s when she knew, and it was too late then,” she added. Her labor reportedly began as Pink sang “I’m comin’ out, so you’d better get this party started.”

Two on-site crowd doctors assisted Mrs. Jones to the medical area and delivered the baby. “It all happened so fast,” recalled Dani Berg, one of the medical professionals who assisted with the birth. “We didn’t really have time to be excited as we wanted to make sure mum and baby were well, which they were, and we got them off to hospital for checks pretty quickly,” she added.
Originally, Mrs. Jones planned to name her daughter Dolly Louise. However, after her surprise entrance, she decided to name her Dolly Pink instead.
Denise Jones Wasn’t the Last to Go Into Labor at a Pink Concert
It would be easy to believe that this would be a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence. However, that’s not the case.
In 2023, Pink performed at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. That night, Angela Mercer, a fan from Albany, New York, who had traveled to see the show, went into labor. According to CBS News, Mercer, along with her mother and sister-in-law, walked to the nearby Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she delivered her baby. “Uber and Lyft, we ordered one of each and they weren’t going to get there, so I decided we had to walk, because the baby was breech and I knew that,” Mercer said at the time. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Last year, during Pink’s Summer Carnival Tour stop in Sydney, Australia, another woman went into labor. This time, though, the concert was well underway when the baby decided to make an entrance.
It Gets Better
The video below shows Denise and Dolly Pink Jones going to a Pink concert for her fifth birthday. They had a small backstage party with the superstar and the doctors who helped deliver the baby.
