Actress Shannen Doherty passed away yesterday, July 13, at the age of 53 from cancer. She was known for her roles in Charmed, Little House On The Prairie, and Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Grieving fans of the actress have been pouring out love and well-wishes to her family and loved ones online, and some fans have brought up one particularly hilarious moment from Doherty’s early acting career.

Doherty once starred in the 1997 NBC television movie Friends ‘Til The End. The film follows two rival young singers (Doherty and Jennifer Blanc), one of which hatches a revenge scheme against the other once the two enter college.
It’s a campy, delightfully bad flick loaded with entirety too many singing segments. One such musical scene portrays Doherty singing “Stop” without the use of another singer’s overdub. While she was an incredible actress, she wasn’t exactly known for her singing chops back in the 1990s.
It’s hard not to love her more after watching this scene, honestly. It’s a lovely way to remember an actress who wasn’t afraid to go for it, even if the film was a bit silly.
How Did Shannen Doherty Die?
Beloved actress Shannen Doherty passed away yesterday at the age of 53 following a years-long battle with breast cancer. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2015. After going into remission, she announced in 2020 that her cancer had returned and had reached Stage 4. Doherty has said on her podcast over the last year that she had accepted her diagnosis and was preparing for the inevitable for quite some time.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty,” Doherty’s publicist Leslie Sloane told PEOPLE today. “On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease. The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”
Doherty was a legend who was known for a number of roles, particularly for her role as Prue Halliwell on The WB series Charmed. We wish her family and loved ones nothing but the best during this difficult time.
