Watch Chris Stapleton Rock the ‘Austin City Limits’ Stage Ahead of This Weekend’s Broadcast

Chris Stapleton will make his return to Austin City Limits this Saturday (February 1). It will be his first time on the long-running show since making his debut in 2018. Fans will get to see him, Morgane Stapleton and an incredible six-piece band play through some of his biggest hits and fan favorites. Recently, ACL shared two of the songs from Stapleton’s season 50 set on their official YouTube channel.

Stapleton will perform a setlist that spans his solo career during his ACL episode on Saturday. The two preview songs, though, come from his most recent album Higher. Watch him play “South Dakota” and “It Takes a Woman” below.

Stapleton didn’t release “It Takes a Woman” or “South Dakota” as singles from Higher. However, they’ve both become popular among his fans. “It Takes a Woman” has garnered more than 26 million streams since the album dropped in November of 2023. “South Dakota” sits at more than 10 million streams.

Stapleton penned “South Dakota” with Dave Cobb, J.T. Cure, and Derek Mixon. Ronnie Bowman and Jerry Salley were his co-writers on “It Takes a Woman.”

About Chris Stapleton’s Return to Austin City Limits

Chris Stapleton recorded his ACL set last October ahead of the first weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, according to the program’s website. Fans who have seen him live will see some familiar faces during the televised set. Additionally, he enlisted Mickey Raphael who has played harmonica for more than 50 years to join him.

Morgane Stapleton (percussion, vocals), J.T. Cure (bass), Derek Mixon (drums), Mike LoPinto (guitar), Paul Franklin (pedal steel), Lee Pardini, and Raphael (harmonica) accompany Stapleton during his ACL return.

Stapleton’s ACL episode will air on PBS this Saturday (February 1) at 7 PM Central Time. It will be available to stream for free on the PBS website as well as the Austin City Limits website immediately after the broadcast.
