Yungblud’s Promise to the Late Ozzy Osbourne: “I Vow To Play This Song Every Night for the Rest of My Life”

On July 5th, thousands of fans traveled to Birmingham, England, to celebrate the career of Ozzy Osbourne. Wanting to perform with Black Sabbath one last time, Ozzy watched his dream come true. And while thanking fans for their love and support over the decades, nobody knew that just two weeks later, Ozzy would pass away at 76 years old. Having struggled with numerous health issues over the years, the Back to the Beginning concert featured more than the icon as Yungblud received the chance of a lifetime when he took the stage to perform “Changes.” Becoming a highlight of the concert, the singer promised to play the song every night to remember Ozzy.

Over the last few days, Yungblud shared his thoughts and feelings on Ozzy’s passing on Instagram. When the Prince of Darkness first passed, he wrote, “I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage.”

Having a few days to process the news and navigate his pain, Yungblud expanded on his original comment. Posting a snippet of his “Changes” performance, he added, “I’m trying to compute the last couple days and honestly I’m absolutely fucking shattered. You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little “too much” or “strange” in my life and career.”

The Way Yungblud Hoped To Keep Ozzy’s Legacy Alive

Showing just how much of an impact Ozzy and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, had on his life and career, Yungblud thanked them for the continued support. “I owe so much to you, your wife and your family – you all gave me a road to run down and supported me when people would turn their nose up. You loved life so much and you adored music. It was your smile man. You taught me it was beautiful to be out of the box.”

Not long after Yungblud performed “Changes”, he decided to follow in the footsteps of Ozzy and release the cover. He hoped to donate proceeds from the song to charity.

Although Ozzy passed away, Yungblud insisted he would keep his memory alive. “To sing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you to a crowd that loved you was truly my life’s greatest honour and I vow to play this song every night for the rest of my life.”

With fans commenting on the post, one person declared, “You wear the crown now kid.” Having massive shoes to fill, Yungblud appeared to be going through some changes of his own.
