Perfect strangers at first meeting,
prey to passion’s beck and call.
Now our doubts just keep repeating,
“We aren’t so perfect after all.”
What happened to the vows that bound us?
Were they mere shadows in a scheme
upon a wall that now surrounds us
with pain so bitter and extreme?
( CHORUS )
Boy, our friends sure were right
when they wrote that on our car,
’cause to look at us now
that’s all we really are-
just married.
We’re just married.
All the good love is gone,
yet we carry on.
Just married.
It’s no wonder my eyes wander
when a pretty girl walks by
in that way you used to saunter
when first you caught my eye.
Now you’re just a desperate housewife.
I admit, I’m part to blame.
We no longer share the good life,
we only share a name.
( REPEAT CHORUS )
Our way of life’s so repetitious.
We just can’t break the old routine.
The love that once was so delicious
has dwindled down to just a dream.
I know you feel the same way I do.
It’s a sin if we pretend
that we have a love that’s true
when our hearts can’t comprehend.
( REPEAT CHORUS )
