New Fleet Foxes: “Helplessness Blues”

Videos by American Songwriter

Sub Pop has uploaded a new track from harmony-loving Seattle folk-rockers Fleet Foxes, dubbed “Helplessness Blues.” It’s the title track to their second album, the followup to their critically lauded 2008 debut Fleet Foxes, due May 3.

“I was raised up believing I was somehow unique” sings Robin Pecknold, “like a snowflake, distinct among snowflakes, unique in each way you could see. And now after some thinking, I’d say I’d rather be a functioning cog in some great machinery, serving something beyond but me.”

It’s a lyrical ploy straight out of Simon and Garfunkel 101. Check out the new song (and some Fleet Foxes tour dates) below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
