Nominees, performers, presenters, and hosts for the 2025 CMA Awards will be announced in the coming months.
Why the 2025 CMA Awards Will Take Place in Late November
Like last year, the 2025 CMA Awards will take place in late November, just days before Thanksgiving. CMA CEO Sarah Trahern spoke to Billboard about why the Country Music Association chose to hold its award show so late in the year.
The CMA Awards moved from early November to late November for the first time in 2024. This helps the show move away from the general election and will avoid any possible conflicts with the MLB World Series. In 2016, the World Series went to game seven, and there was a conflict between that game and the 50th annual CMA Awards. “Even a number of our board members who are Cubs fans went to the game and skipped the awards that year,” Trahern recalled.
“When we tested being out of that early window because of the election, we felt good,” Trahern added. “The ratings were strong. Also, ABC used to have another award show in that space, where they no longer have it. So, getting through all of the end-of-the-season shows that tend to finale in November gave us a little bit of a window right before Thanksgiving,” the CMA CEO explained.
