3 Boy Bands From the 1990s You Forgot Existed

Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC weren’t the only boy bands burning up the charts in the ’90s. While “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and “Bye Bye Bye” were undoubtedly two of the biggest hits of the era, plenty of other boy bands found their way onto the airwaves and into the hearts of many a teen.

O-Town, 98 Degrees, and Boyz II Men were all responsible for some of the boy band craze too. Even those don’t scratch the surface of the talent of the decade, though.

Keep reading to rediscover three forgotten boy bands of the ’90s.

All-4-One

All-4-One, which was comprised of members Jamie Jones, Delious Kennedy, Alfred Nevarez, and Tony Borowiak, took the world by storm with the release of “I Swear” in 1994. The song, which topped the Billboard Hot 100, won the guys a GRAMMY Award, not a typical feat of a boy band in that era.

The band, who released seven LPs in total, went on to have success with songs “I’m Your Man” and “I Can Love You Like That.” All-4-One went on to experience great success in Asia.

They’re still active today. In 2015, the group released a 20th anniversary album, Twenty+. The following year, the quartet was part of the I Love the 90s tour. Then, in 2024, All-4-One embarked on a 30th anniversary tour.

BBMak

BBMak, made up of members Mark Barry, Christian Burns, and Stephen McNally, was formed in 1996. The British band released their debut single, “Back Here,” in 1999, but it took off in the USthe following year when it charted in the top 20.

The boy band released two albums—Sooner or Later and Into Your Head—before breaking up in 2003. They reunited in 2018 and released a third album, Powerstation, the following year.

The group remains active to this day. They even have a tour scheduled for April, which will take them across California. Then, this summer, the boy band will be part of the Pop 2000 Tour alongside other acts including Chris Kirkpatrick and O-Town.

LFO

The summer of ’99 was defined by one song–”Summer Girls.” The LFO track peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and made band members Rich Cronin, Devin Lima, and Brad Fischetti stars.

The Lyte Funkie Ones originally included Brian “Brizz” Gillis, but the boy band didn’t find great success until he left the group in 1998 and was replaced by Lima. The band put out two albums—LFO in 1999 and Life Is Good in 2001. The group disbanded in 2002.

They had a short-lived reunion in 2009, but that fell apart after Cronin died from leukemia the following year. In 2017, Lima and Fischetti teamed up as a duo to release a new song, “Perfect 10.” However, tragedy once again hit in 2018 when Lima died after undergoing surgery amid stage-four adrenal cancer.

Today, Fischetti tries to keep the LFO name alive by touring and performing the group’s hits in honor of his late bandmates.
