On Sunday, April 27, American Idol eliminated two contestants, leaving the total number of finalists at 12. The two contestants eliminated were Desmond King and Amanda Barise. The theme of the evening was Rock & Roll Hall of Fame singers, and consequently, all the contestants had to perform songs originally recorded by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members.

All the contestants gave a sufficient performance and secured their spot in the next round. However, the performance of the evening was Mattie Pruitt’s cover of Janis Joplin’s “Piece Of My Heart”.
Ever since garnering her gold ticket at the beginning of the season, Pruitt has been evoking reactions out of both the judges and the viewers. Consequently, it seems she is currently one of the front-runners of the competition. She Lives Just Outside of Nashville
Mattie Pruitt has shown the masses that she knows, loves, and most importantly, can sing country music. Her grasp on the genre is certainly a product of a lot of practice, but her affinity for country music seemingly derives from her Tennessee roots.
Born and raised just outside of Nashville in Eagleville, Tennessee, Mattie Pruitt still attends the local high school, given that she is 15 years old. Nonetheless, could Pruitt be Nashville’s new native country music superstar? Time will tell…
She Is Friends With Craig Campbell
In her audition, Pruitt brought along Craig Campbell to play piano. Funny enough, Craig Campbell has been a friend of Luke Bryan way before he was ever famous. As a matter of fact, Campbell used to play piano for Bryan before he ever even signed a record deal.
It is unclear how exactly Pruitt and Campbell knew one another, but regardless, and in addition to her talent, this stunt surely helped her score her golden ticket. Since going solo, Campbell has had several popular songs, including “Tractor Song” and “Fish”.
Mattie Pruitt’s Dream Is Two Years in the Making
Surely, Mattie Pruitt has dreamed about being a professional musician for quite some time. However, according to her Instagram page, Pruitt has been actively promoting her music on social media since 2023. Whether it is singing in a school hallway or gracing one of Nashville’s stages, Pruitt has seemingly been sharing every step of her career thus far.
Even though she is young, she has seemingly accomplished a lot as a musician, and that’s not even counting her participation on American Idol. Needless to say, she’s been working, but she still has a long road ahead of her.
