Sometimes, all you need are a few classic R&B songs from the 1990s to get you through the day. These R&B one-hit wonders are a few classics from the 90s era that could stand to be revisited! You might even recognize a couple of these groovy hits, too.

1. “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs
What’s not to love about the 1996 hit “My Boo” by Ghost Town DJs? That addicting bassline, that incredible, catchy chorus… It makes sense why this Miami bass track made it to no. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, among others.
Unfortunately for this Georgia-based hip-hop outfit, it was their only chart-topping single… and also their only single, period.
2. “Freak Like Me” by Adina Howard
The 1995 smash hit “Freak Like Me” by Adina Howard is one of the most memorable R&B one-hit wonders on this list. This bold, powerful hip-hop soul track is quite the anthem for self-acceptance. It made it to no. 2 on the Hot 100 chart that year and is still included on lists of the best pop songs of the 90s today.
Sadly, the talented Adina Howard never had a Top 10 hit again. The track “My Up And Down” made it to no. 68 on the Hot 100, but the rest of Howard’s releases failed to chart well in the years that followed.
3. “He’s Mine” by MoKenStef
Remember MoKenStef? This R&B trio came to life during a period in pop music when everyone and their mother was in a girl group. It makes sense why they slipped through the cracks, but they really should not have.
“He’s Mine” was just a preview of what this R&B trio was capable of, and that 1995 hit made it to no. 7 on the Hot 100. For reasons we don’t quite understand, their follow-up single “Sex In The Rain” didn’t chart nearly as well.
4. “I Love Your Smile” by Shanice
Need a song that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy? The 1991 hit “I Love Your Smile” by Shanice is one of the sweetest R&B one-hit wonders out there. It’s a new jack swing classic that charted all the way to no. 2 on the Hot 100 chart.
Sadly, singer/songwriter Shanice never had a Top 3 hit again in the US, though the song “Saving Forever For You” managed to make it pretty far after being featured on the Beverly Hills, 90210 soundtrack in 1992.
