90s Metal Hitmakers Change Tour Schedule To Grieve “Profound Loss”

After decades of narrow escapes, death finally came for the Godfather of Heavy Metal. Ozzy Osbourne passed peacefully at his Los Angeles home on July 22, 2025 — just 17 days after his epic hometown farewell show with Black Sabbath. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s death has reached every corner of the music industry. With tributes still pouring in, Ozzy proteges Pantera are adjusting their tour schedule in order to properly mourn the Prince of Darkness.

The band announced in a July 25 Facebook post that they are postponing two upcoming stops and canceling three more along their Heaviest Tour of the Summer.

Originally slotted for July 28, Pantera has moved a show in Saratoga Springs, New York, to Tuesday, Sept. 9. A July 31 gig in Holmdel, New Jersey, will now take place Monday, Sept. 8.

These changes mean the “Cemetery Gates” rockers must cancel three shows altogether: a July 29 stop in Gilford, New Hampshire; and two September shows in Birmingham, Alabama, and Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Ticketholders who purchased through Ticketmaster will receive an automatic refund. Anyone who bought from a third-party seller, such as StubHub or SeatGeek, should reach out to those companies directly.

“We appreciate your understanding during this difficult time,” the post read.

Pantera Remembers “Legend “Ozzy Osbourne

In the late ’90s and early 2000s, Pantera played alongside Ozzy Osbourne multiple times at Ozzfest, the annual music festival founded by his wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne.

Moreover, Ozzy’s lead guitarist, Zakk Wylde, joined Pantera on tour in 2022. Wylde joined Ozzy in 1987 after Sharon fired guitarist Jake E. Lee. He would continue playing with the “No More Tears” singer off and on until his death.

“Ozzy wasn’t just a legend who shaped the very foundation of heavy metal and inspired Pantera from the beginning — he was family,” the band’s statement read. “A mentor, a brother, and a constant presence in our lives both on and off the stage. The bond we shared with him ran far deeper than music.”

The statement read, “In light of this profound loss, we need time and space to grieve — to be with our families, our crew, and each other as we process and honor the life of someone who meant so much to us.”
