Country music star and actor, Luke Grimes has had quite the run in 2024, and he is closing it out with Yellowstone’s final season. Yellowstone, which is in its fifth and final season has featured Grimes as Kayce Dutton for all five seasons. Son of Kevin Constner’s character, John Dutton, Grimes has made comments about the show’s final season. Particularly in regards to Costner’s departure from the show.

Aside from those comments, Grimes has also made some recent statements regarding the public’s reception of his character in the fifth and final season. There have been a lot of grievances aired about the last season. Particularly, one of the most notable is that the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, wrote himself into the final season as a major character. Also, he made his character date the fashion model and rodeo star, Bella Hadid. Which, yeah, you can surmise why that is funny.
In light of all of this controversy, Luke Grimes and co-star, Kelsey Asbille, sat down with Town & Country to talk about the show and how they would respond to public backlash.
Luke Grimes Respectfully Blunt Comments
Luke Grimes’ comments on the matter were seemingly the exact right way to respond to such a question. When asked about what he would say to the public, he simply stated, “Well, I usually tell them it’s a television show that I don’t write” and “It’s my job to show up and say the words, and it’s not real life, so they should probably get over it.”
Regarding his character, Grimes added, “I think what’s refreshing about the last season is that they are happy for a bit. The show is very hard on Kayce and Monica” and “For a bit, you see them sort of enjoying themselves, but it doesn’t last very long, unfortunately.”
The series finale of Yellowstone premieres on Sunday, December 15. So, if you hate the way Sheridan closes out the show, don’t take it up with Grimes. He will turn you around, tell you how it is, and say get over it.
