During a recent interview with Las Vegas-based radio station KOMP 92.3, Kerry King said that a new album is closer than some fans might think. “Me and Paul have got 10, 12 songs demoed already,” he revealed. “I’ve just gotta get off my butt and write lyrics for them,” he added. King penned many songs in his years with Slayer and wrote all of the lyrics for his debut solo outing.

King knows that he’s not getting any younger. However, his age isn’t slowing him down. Instead, it’s part of what is pushing him forward. “None of us are young. We wanna keep going,” he told the station. “We want the machine to roll. We don’t want five-year gaps,” he added. Then, he laid out his plans for the rest of the year.

“As soon as album cycle one is done, which looks like it’s gonna be, I don’t know, September maybe, we wanna jump into rehearsal or jump right into the studio and take the momentum of the tour, so we can have another two-week recording cycle,” King explained.

The interviewer asked King if they could expect a new album in early 2026. “That’s a realistic goal,” he said. “I wanna achieve that, for sure,” he added.

King’s current tour will wrap up this Saturday (February 22) a the House of Blues in Las Vegas. Then, he’ll play a handful of international tour dates throughout the spring and summer. He’ll play his final date of the year with Gojira in Krakau, Poland on August 19.
