Countin’ the Miles gave listeners a look at Daniel’s version of the Bakersfield Sound. This summer, Son of the San Lorenzo will expand on his ever-evolving signature sound. The album’s sonic landscape will be a combination of the Bakersfield-style country music of greats like Merle Haggard and Buck Owens combined with Southern rock influences including the Allman Brothers and the cosmic country of the likes of the Flying Burrito Brothers.

Daniel didn’t go into the new album alone. It’s packed with heavy-hitting guests. For instance, the record features a collaboration with Charles Wesley Godwin. Additionally, it features Charlie McCoy, keyboardist Peter Keys (Lynyrd Skynyrd), and bajo player Richard Bailey (SteelDrivers).
Jesse Daniel on the New Single
Jesse Daniel will share stories from his life on the upcoming album. He’ll interlace the ups and downs of his adolescence, battles with addiction, and life on the road throughout the 11-track collection. The lead single, though, sees him straddling the line between accepting his past and looking into the future.
“When I was writing this song, I thought a lot about my life. It has been a pretty incredible journey and as I sat there, I thought back on all the work it’s taken to get to the point I’m at,” he shared in a press release. “All the road behind me and the road ahead. In the past, I’d anguish over the outcome of what I was doing, and it often took the love of it out of me. This song is essentially a realization that music, art, and life are more about the journey than they are the destination,” he added. “It is a confident letter to myself that with this newfound mindset, the best of life has just begun.”
Son of the San Lorenzo Tracklist and Information
Jesse Daniel recorded Son of the San Lorenzo at the Bomb Shelter studio in Nashville. While he had plenty of guest musicians, Daniel was at the helm throughout the production process.
“I wrote, arranged, and produced this record myself,” he shared. “I also took on much of the sonic direction, including percussion, rhythm and lead guitar, harmonies, and more, which I think is a really important piece of the puzzle given how personal these songs are,” he explained. “I felt like I was finally ready to stop running and face things head on with his record.”
Son of the San Lorenzo will hit record store shelves and streaming platforms on June 6 via Lightning Rod Records. It is available for pre-order now.
