CBS Eyeing ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff With Luke Grimes Attached

If you are missing both Yellowstone and one of its protagonists, Kayce Dutton, do not fret, as there is seemingly a new spinoff in the works. A spinoff that reportedly will revolve around country music star Luke Grimes’ character, Kayce Dutton. Grimes’ plotline wasn’t exactly all said and done when the final season wrapped. Thus, Taylor Sheridan has a lot of material to work with in regard to Grimes’ character. However, time will tell if this mere rumor comes to fruition.

At the moment, the potential Kayce Dutton spin-off series is merely an idea CBS is pondering. Fans started to assume that something was in the works after Kelly Reilly, who portrays Beth Dutton, stated that there would not be a spinoff surrounding her character. However, she did loosely allude to a spinoff series surrounding another character in an Instagram post.

In addition to Reilly’s comments, Variety reported that CBS has its sights set on a potential Kayce Dutton series. They stated in their article, “Exact plot details are currently under wraps and no deals are believed to be in place at this time. As with ‘Yellowstone,’ the new show would be produced by MTV Entertainment Studios as opposed to CBS Studios.”

So, for the time being, all Luke Grimes and Yellowstone fans can do is wait. Although, even if Luke Grimes isn’t in a new Yellowstone series, we still have his country music. Which he’s been working at quite frequently recently.

Luke Grimes’ Recent Country Music Endeavors

For approximately the last year, Luke Grimes has been focusing heavily on his country music career. On March 8, 2024, Grimes released his debut full-length self-titled album. Consequently, Grimes has been gracing the biggest stages across the world, including the Ryman, the Grand Ole Opry, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and several different music festivals.

If the Kayce Dutton spinoff doesn’t come to fruition, there is still more than enough Luke Grimes to go around, as his country music career is currently flourishing with no signs of slowing down. Also, he’ll surely get another acting role, though the masses do seemingly hope it’s as Kacey Dutton.
