How To Watch The First All-Female Space Crew In 60 Years

Katy Perry is one of six celebrities set to visit the edge of space. The capsule and rocket, developed by Blue Origin, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ private spaceflight company, is scheduled to lift off Monday (April 14) at 9:30 a.m. Eastern from Blue Origin’s launch site in Van Horn, Texas.

For those hoping to witness the first female-only crew lift off since 1963, you’re in luck. Blue Origin will begin live-streaming the takeoff ahead of the launch window on its website. While the company hasn’t supplied further details, a YouTube simulcast will go live on Monday. Blue Origin will also begin covering the launch live at 8 a.m. Eastern on X/Twitter.

Additionally, CBS is covering the launch on its network and on Paramount+. Coverage kicks off at 7 a.m. Eastern, followed by the 9 a.m. special segment “Gayle Goes To Space.”

King, the co-host of CBS Mornings, will join Perry aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. Lauren Sánchez, a former journalist and Bezos’ fiancée, is leading the mission. Rounding out the crew’s roster are former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe; Amanda Nguyen, a bioastronautics research scientist; and movie producer Kerianne Flynn.

During space training, the “Teenage Dream” hitmaker, 40, came across two unexpected coincidences linked to her mother’s nicknames for her.

“There are no coincidences, and I’m just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship,” Perry said.
