Upon its initial release, Stapleton’s debut album debuted at No. 14 on the chart. However, after Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake performed “Tennessee Whiskey” at the 2015 CMA Awards, the album peaked at No. 1 on the chart. The album sold 27,000 copies in its first week, and as of now, it is sitting at No. 82 on the Billboard 200.

Other artists and their albums to accomplish this feat include Pink Floyd and Dark Side of the Moon, Fleetwood Mac and Rumours, Nirvana and Nevermind, as well as Michael Jackson and Thriller. Needless to say, Chris Stapleton is breathing rare air, and he has further cemented himself as one of the most successful country artists of all time.

‘Traveller’ & Chris Stapleton’s Several Other Accolades

Even though this feat is monstrous, it is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the success of Stapleton’s debut album. In addition to its illustrious chart run, Traveller also won a CMA award, an ACM award, a Billboard Music award, a Grammy, and several other notable awards.

At the moment, the album has reportedly sold over 7 million units since its release. Furthermore, it has also received a 7x Platinum certification by the RIAA. The most notable chart statistic about Stapleton’s album is, of course, its long-lasting appearance on the Billboard 200. However, it has also performed incredibly well on several other charts.

As of today, Traveller is sitting at the No. 15 spot on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 9 on the Top Americana/Folk Albums chart. Regardless of the accolades, chart history, or album sales, Traveller is the album that introduced solo Chris Stapleton to the masses.
